Director of Production & Operations
Ben Tusher joined The Wooden Floor in 2002 and is responsible for supporting the artistic department’s vision by taking their ideas and making them a three-dimensional reality onstage. Additionally, he directs the physical operation and maintenance of The Wooden Floor’s 21,000 square foot campus. Ben is also an acclaimed lighting designer whose work for theatre, dance, opera, and themed environments have been seen throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia for the last twenty years. At The Wooden Floor, he has created designs for more than two-dozen commissioned dances presented by the organization since 2003, working with noted choreographers including Mark Haim, Nami Yamamoto, Sally Silvers, John Heginbotham, Chris Yon, and Donald McKayle. As an enthusiastic and committed proponent of arts education, Ben has taught and designed productions at universities in Southern California since 1999, including the University of California at Riverside where he has been both a Visiting Assistant Professor and Artist-in-Residence. Ben holds a Master of Fine Arts in Drama from the University of California at Irvine, with an emphasis in Lighting Design.
